Most common cause for clinic visits, mainly in lumbar area, with muscle spasm,Lower Back Pain and making up the majority of pathology but other causes include but not limited to disc bugling/herniation, spondylolisthesis, arthritis, Osteoporosis, Scoliosis, tumors, vertebral cord fracture. Diagnosis is made through physical examination, history taking, x-rays, EMG, and MRI’s. Risk factors include but not limited to heavy lifting, trauma, obesity and aging. Treatment options include but not limited to conservative therapy like physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, pain killers. Other therapies include non-operative procedure like epidural injections, nerve blocks. Surgery is reserved when either conservative therapy is exhausted or when there is an emergency.
